ABL Space Systems (ABL) has launched the debut flight of the RS1 launch vehicle on Jan. 10, 2023. Liftoff occurred at at 2:27 PM AKST (23:27 UTC). Onboard were two CubeSats built by OmniTeq, previously L2 Aerospace. RS1 was attempting to place its payload into low Earth orbit nearly nine minutes after lift-off from Launch Pad 3C at the Pacific Spaceport Complex in Kodiak, Alaska.
A launch opportunity on Jan. 9 was forgone due to high winds. In 2022, the first attempt on Monday, Nov. 14, was scrubbed due to off-nominal data on the first stage during propellant loading. A second attempt on Thursday, Nov. 17, was aborted due to turbopump oxygen inlet conditions at engine ignition. On Monday, Nov. 21, the launch was aborted during engine ignition at T-1.75 seconds. And finally, on Dec. 8, a manual hold was called about six minutes before T0.
